Rainbow Snippet - From the Ashes

From the Ashes is a Cinderfella that I intend to rerelease after the New Year.

Cinder never thought that he could rise from the ashes of his life, but an unexpected encounter with a woman claiming to be be his fairy godmother may be just what he needs. Finding himself flung into his own fairy tale, she sends him off to meet his Prince Charming. But was the gown really necessary?

Midnight? What was so special about midnight? He had no intention of going, much less staying that late.

A soft hand at the small of his back coaxed him into motion, urging him toward the front of the manor. Every time Cinder opened his mouth to protest, she prattled right over him without even pausing for breath.

"But I don't want to go. I don't need a prince. I am a man!"

  1. I love reimagined fairytales and this sounds great. His protests, ineffective as they are, give a glimpse of his character.

    1. He's never had a reason to think about his future because he believed he didn't really have one. The servile class was treated very poorly in the 16th century.

  2. I love fairy-tales. Cinders doesn't sound as though he's too impressed with the idea of getting a man.

    1. Cinder has recently been hit on by one of the other servants who doesn't realize that he isn't female. He's not at all sure he likes it.

  4. Somehow, I don't think his protests are going to get him anywhere. (I want to meet the fairy godmother -- she sounds like a fun character.)

    1. She is something of a force of nature, a bit air-headed, and possibly half blind. But full of energy and not willing to take no for an answer.
