Rainbow Snippet - Body Language

Body Language is a prequel in my Apollo's Men series. We meet Lykos from Alexios' Fate while he was still a young man, before he became a king. While traveling in Persia, he rescues Kas.
"Help!" the beleaguered young man shouted as the sword-wielding man reached for him. Lykos couldn't wait for the other armed men to declare themselves. Even if they were bandits, he wouldn't stand back and do nothing while the boy was harmed.

Either way, Narses wouldn't allow them to take Lykos unawares.

Lykos dropped his pack on the ground and raced to the youth's aid. Narses cursed at him in at least two languages and by as many pantheons. Like it or not, it's your problem now.

Body Language is available for free download at Smashwords.

  1. I am right to feel sorry for Narses? Love the mix of heroism and impetuousity here.

    1. Escorting a twenty-year-old prince through a foreign nation probably wasn't something Narses would have chosen for himself, but the friendship of kings often comes laden with danger.
Lykos is tired of feeling coddled, especially now that he's a man.

    1. It's a free short story. Shouldn't take too long to find out.

  4. Love this line:
"Narses cursed at him in at least two languages and by as many pantheons."
(I have some characters who could definitely relate to Narses.)
